Echo Mountain Park is a new skiing and riding experience that recently opened west of Denver, Colorado. Located along the I-70 corridor just 35 miles from downtown, Echo Mountain is by far the closest and easiest mountain to access. The mountain has a strong focus on freestyle skiing and riding, and also provides groomers, glades, and skiing and riding school for all ages and abilities.
Echo Mountain sets itself apart from the rest of the Colorado resorts in several ways. First and foremost, it is focused on freestyle skiing and riding and has a wide variety of natural and manmade features for all abilities. In addition, the mountain is open twelve hours a day, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., making it possible for enthusiasts to hit the slopes after school or work. Echo mountain also stays open until early May, several weeks after many of the other resorts have closed. Another bonus is the affordable ticket prices. Season passes are under $200 dollars and single day tickets are far less than anywhere else in Colorado.
Echo Mountain contains five different freestyle areas, each with a different personality. Highlights include the Junkyard, the Asylum, and the halfpipe. The Junkyard is an area in which everything is fair play and anything can be utilized for skiing and riding. The Asylum is in a gladed area and is home to log slides and other freestyle features. The half-pipe is deep and well maintained, and the mountain is home to over 100 features including jumps, rollers, rails, tables, boxes, cars, logs, and a variety of other features. The mountain has a focus on progression; so all abilities will find features they can enjoy. Don’t forget, the entire area is lit at night.
Echo Mountain provides ski and ride school for all ages and abilities. First timers can learn how to safely ski and ride the mountain and develop their skills to take on more challenging terrain. In addition, students can take lessons on freestyle skiing and riding and how to safely take on the features of the mountain and develop their own feel for the sport.
A unique experiment among Colorado resorts, Echo Mountain is doing quite well and continues to expand and refine itself. The mountain was dreamed up and designed with the skier and rider who love the freedom and creativity of the sport in mind. Echo Mountain is a true winter playground where all ages and abilities can develop their skills in a fun and new environment.
