This campground offers year-round accommodations for the convenience of visitors. Another terrific place to camp is Green River Campground, which is also only about 5 miles from the Monument. This campground offers lovely shaded sites beside Green River. For those, who want more luxurious accommodations, there are many luxury hotels in nearby Rangely, Colorado.
Although the original visitor's center for the Monument is temporarily closed due to reconstruction, there is a temporary center where visitors can view a vast array of dinosaur exhibits. Since the original center is temporarily closed, visitors can only see the popular rock wall with almost 1,500 dinosaur remains embedded in it through a virtual tour at the Monument's website. People can also learn all about the splendid canyon area, by visiting the Canyon Area visitor center and watching their videos or looking through some of their many books in their bookstore.
For the nature lovers, the Monument offers some of the best hiking trails around such as the Fossil Discovery Trail. This is a one and 1/2 mile trail where people can view dinosaur fossils embedded in rocks all along the trail. They may also choose the Cold Desert Trail where they can experience the desert terrain of the area, or they can hike along Harper's Corner Trail, which is a 2 mile trail ending at the three river canyons.
Other fabulous ways to see the lovely scenery of Dinosaur National Monument is by either taking a river tour or a scenic drive. There are river tours available on both the Green and Yampa rivers, and people can also use their own boats if they have a permit. For their driving pleasure, Harper's Corner Drive offers visitors splendid scenic views of the canyon country. People can see the magnificent waterfalls along red rock canyon by driving along Jones Hole Road.
